As well as being well known for its beautiful countryside, Somerset is also home to several incredible wedding venues in idyllic settings. If you're planning your wedding here, you absolutely have to make the most of the scenery but how do you find the perfect venue which also has a stunning outdoor ceremony site (or two)?

Here's our guide to the 5 best wedding venues in Somerset with amazing outdoor ceremony spaces to give you the ultimate outdoor wedding you have been dreaming of.

1. North Cadbury Court

A gorgeous 16th century house, North Cadbury Court has everything you could want from a wedding venue. In addition to the beautiful house itself, complete with ballroom which seats up to 150 guests and accommodation 21 bedrooms, their grounds are never ending allowing for plenty of options for an outdoor ceremony including their walled flower gardens or by the lake. And if it does rain, North Cadbury court still gives you the freedom to have your ceremony in the house or even in the church adjacent to the house.

There is no doubt that your ceremony is one of the most important parts of your day, but for couples who are looking for other elements to elevate their day North Cadbury Court does not disappoint!  They have an endless range of facilities both inside (hello basement casino and disco room!) and outside (anyone for rooftop golf?!) for you and your guests to enjoy.

Overlooking the orchard are three separate spaces which are perfect for celebrating with friends and family. The Regency Orangery is a stunning space for your wedding breakfast. With a private entrance and foyer, the 18th century Orangery features grandiose glass windows and parquet flooring. 3. Midelney Manor

Located near Langport in the ancient landscape of the Somerset Levels sits the stunning Midelney Manor, a family run Elizabethan manor house set in the middle of 400 acres, giving you the ultimate Somerset experience! The gardens at Midelney Manor are all designed differently, giving multiple idyllic spaces to hold each part of your special day!

The most popular space for couples to exchange vows is the walled garden - a gorgeous setting, complete with flower borders and traditional stone walls. The Potting Shed, is a rustic barn with bar and lounge area - and also doubles up as a ceremony option if the weather turns. Next to this is the round garden which offers the perfect space for a marquee, seating up to 150 guests. Midelney Manor also offers accommodation for up to 6 guests - perfect for the Bridal party! However, our favourite feature of this venue has to be the Washam Woods; it really does look like something out of a fairytale.  A festoon lit path leads through to a unique iglu perfect for the special couple to spend the night!

4. Quantock Lakes

Quantock Lakes is a purpose-built wedding venue located on the edge of the Quantock hills in the heart of Somerset. The first thing that comes to mind when we think of this venue is their stunning lake where couples can get married directly over the water on a wooden jetty with guests seated closely on the grounds.  This exclusive use venue boasts three interconnecting barns - all with stunning views - with onsite accommodation offering a combined sleeping capacity is up to 62 guests.

Quantock Lakes truly encourages wedding guests to enjoy the great outdoors by providing marshmallows to toast on the outside fire-pit, a romantic rope swing on their ancient oak tree and of course access to the lake, wedding meadows and the rest of their beautiful grounds.

5. Crowcombe Court

Crowcombe Court sits proudly within a stunning walled garden set on the grounds of 94-hectare landscape park on the edge of Somerset's Quantock Hills. This glamorous manor house is sure to impress your guests with 22 magnificent bedrooms in addition to the multiple function spaces. However, it is the surrounding grounds that makes this venue ever so special. From the natural spring water feature to the love swing and archway,

Crowcombe Court provides endless photo opportunities for the couple to treasure.

A beautiful gazebo is set next to the building, overlooking the stunning Quantock Hills. This really is the perfect place for your outside ceremony. If the weather is not in your favour, the house provides an idyllic ceremony setting in the Great Hall, adjacent to the Victorian Ballroom both of which can seat up to 100 guests. After the formal elements of the wedding celebration, guests can dance the night away in the basement Vaulted Undercroft.
